As this year of 2019 is coming to a close and the awe of 2020 is almost upon us, I decided to refresh the Phil Oldershaw website to support my unique brand of individuality. After all, how can I expect people to buy into me and assist them with their project or event with a fresh and energetic approach if I am not doing the same for myself!
Welcome to my brand-new website giving you some insight into the types of projects I can deliver on, and some of what I’ve got involved with over the years. Fortunately, over time, I have been able to work on an endless array of interesting, exciting and challenging projects that have given me an immense amount of experience culminating in priceless knowledge. Well I say priceless, everything comes with a price, and that’s where I can help!
I hope you have had a look through my skills listed already, and maybe even viewed the ‘about’ page for further insight too. In me, you do not simply get a vastly experienced, passionate and confident presenter. You get a fully skilled and knowledgeable event co-ordinator, event planner and hospitality guru all-in. I deliver for, and have been a presenter on TV & Radio, Live Stage Events, Live Interviewing, Gala Dinners & Charity Auctions, Food Festivals and Demos, Corporate Launches & Presentations, Product Launches & Openings, Exhibition Hosting, Awards & Fashion Shows, Guest Speaking, Motivational Speaking and even appeared in Commercials/Adverts. I am genuinely skilled in many business successes that give added value when hosting any event or representing a brand. I have certainly kept busy over the years and I’m often seen hosting many events in and around the city (Chinese New Year, BBC Good Food Show, Colmore Food Festival, MBCC & IDDA Awards as well as a regular weekly show on Solihull Radio.
A respected business person within the city and beyond, I am known for making the Nightingale Club a phenomenal success from (1994-2005), seeing top artists like Take That, Steps and Geri Haliwell perform alongside retro acts Boney M, The Supremes and The Three Degrees, to name but some. During this time, I co-launched Birmingham Pride in 1996, with the first event happening in 1997. The rest is history boasting numbers that have reached 100,000 people over individual years and bringing in excess of £15,000,000.00 to the local economy for that weekend alone. Birmingham Pride has enriched millions of lives and is a city diary date for locals and tourists alike. I later opened The Loft Lounge (2006-2010) a multi award-winning restaurant and bar.
Now a business development strategist within hospitality, and other fields, I have brought my success and knowledge back to Birmingham after working in Leeds, on numerous projects, for the last 3 years. Upon returning, I quickly launched a summer hit show on Birmingham Updates called ‘Busking Battles’ that reached over 1.5 million viewers and created a city buzz around the live music industry and buskers. During this show I was offered a weekly gig on Solihull Radio and I have subsequently created ‘The Phil O Show’ giving buskers and developing artists a platform to be heard, express and play their music. This has also brought interest from music artists who want to help also and have called in to pledge support and give advice. Celebrity artists have included: Jaki Graham, Hazell Dean, Nicki French, Nikki Belle (Mousse T) and even beloved thespian, Lord Michael Cashman CBE.
Other accolades have seen me help get 'Southside BID’ and ‘Purple Flag’ off the ground, be an entertainment columnist for the Birmingham Mail, help develop the national brand Coast to Coast (Fire Jacks) with The Restaurant Group PLC and consult on many independents projects too. Receiving an award in 2011, from the Lord Mayors Parlour, for ’Services to the City’ within my entertainment presenting field.
I shall utilise this blog to let you see a part of my presenter world and give insight into other areas of my working life, mind and energy.
Please feel free to share my blog with friends, colleagues and people you may think would be excited or interested in learning more about me.
Many thanks
Phil Oldershaw
